Donate To World Vision Today, And Help Children Around The World! #Giveaway (U.S.) Ends 12/12 (Rafflecopter) #ChristmasGiftGuide

I had a chance to check out a Prosperity Cinnamon Box from the World Vision catalog. The cinnamon inside smells so nice, and so does the cinnamon stick! I mainly chose it because it came from India. My husband and I spend four long months in India for his work. While we were there, we flew into New Delhi and took a car for a long four hour drive to a city called Agra. We went there to see the Taj Mahal. The road there wasn't too bad, there was a small restaurant or tourist shop along the way. But what we saw the next day on our ride to the Taj Mahal, will forever be ingrained in my mind. I will never forget the poverty that we saw on the sides of the road in the village about a half hour outside of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal itself was beautiful! But what we saw before we got there, was unimaginable.

We saw children walking around with either just a dirty t-shirt on, no underwear, pants, socks, or shoes, or they had no clothing at all. They lived in little house with no doors on them. They looked as if they only had one or two rooms to them, so the people probably slept on the ground. If they had access to clean water at all, it came from rain water, a well, or they had to purchase bottled water.

I saw a dog burning in a pile of trash. It probably died because of starvation. You know those children that they show on commercials that are starving, and either their stomachs are distended or they are so skinny that you can see their skeleton. We saw that up close and personal. I honestly felt as though I wanted to get out of the car and help them. But, I couldn't, as I probably would have never left, and I wouldn't be there today to tell you about it.

World Vision's Gift Catalog is a gift that will give to others and keep giving, not just for a day a year! Through World Vision's Gift Catalog you can receive a gift for yourself or someone else along with helping a child or family in need. You can choose a gift like the Prosperity Cinnamon which I received, or you can just choose to give a donation. When you choose a gift, your donation is tax deductible minus the fair value amount of the gift. Such as, the Prosperity Cinnamon is $85 and you would take off $19 for the fair market value. The rest is tax deductible. There are varying gift amounts from $10 and up, just click on the left side of the page for gifts in the amount that you would like to give. For your $10.00, you can choose to help children right here in the United States!

For only $25, you can give Two Chickens.

For $35, you can Help a Girl go to School!

For $100, you can give a goat and two chickens.

You can also choose amounts to give clean water, medical care, and many other things.

If you would be interested in sponsoring a child, you can do so HERE! It only costs $35 a month to sponsor a child, and it's very rewarding!

Above is Wendy, she is 6 years old, and lives in Columbia! It would be so great if someone would sponsor her, or a child like her! That someone could be You!

For about $1 a day, you'll provide children in need with access to life-saving basics like:

  • Clean water
  • Nutritious food
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • And more!

What would happen if we all taught our children that the world doesn't revolve around them, their friends, family, and school, but the world is much, much bigger than they thought? What would happen if we stopped giving our children so many material things, but taught them how to help and give to others? What if we took them to poverty stricken areas in the U.S., or to India (where my husband and I have seen the worst poverty ever, and you don't forget what you saw, ever)? What a wonder world we would be creating for our children, and our grandchildren, and so on!

  1. I like the idea of giving animals as it's a gift that keeps on giving....with a hen, they can collect eggs from her each day and also breed her for more chickens. With a goat, they can drink her milk, make cheese from her milk, etc.... With a sheep, they can sheer it's wool to make items to sell. They can also use the animal for food, but I like the idea of them collecting eggs, milk, wool, etc from the animals.... I really like this cinnamon box. And like that you get a small gift with your donation. This looks like a great charity and one I'd like to support. Thanks for the chance to win .

  11. I see gifts for food and for basic needs for families in the US--this breaks my heart. We don't have a lot, but we give to and support everything local--food drives, coat collections...whatever we see.
