I have a friend whom I have known since I was five years old. We have
known each other for thirty three years, and counting. He is one of my
best friends, and he is Latin American, and he had skin cancer. Who knew
that someone with dark skin, could get skin cancer? I didn't, and
neither did he. But it happened. With more and more children and adults
playing sports outside, skin cancer is on the rise. We need to be
careful how much time we spend outside. But when we are outside, in the
sun, we need to apply sunscreen, and make sure to reapply it every two
to three hours, just to be safe. I try my best to make sure that my kids and I are covered up, or wearing sunscreen when we are going to be spending a lot of time outdoors.
