As most parents know, when your children start daycare, mom's day out, pre-k, or any sort of school, that you need to put your child's name on everything if you ever want to make sure that the items make it back to you. My son started PreK a little late this year, in September 2011. We were told to make sure that his name was on his backpack, folder, lunch box, jackets, and anything else that he was going to be bringing to school. When I was younger, I don't remember ever having to do this. I kept track of my things and they always came back home with me everyday.
Instead of using a marker and worrying about it rubbing off or coming off because of it getting wet, we use labels, from Lovable Labels, with our children's names on them. I put them on all of their backpacks, jackets, sippy cups, etc. It's a nice, cute way to make sure that the items always get back to us and go home with us. So there is no mix up as to which child had which backpack, lunch box, or cup!

We also use hot water in our dishwasher, just an FYI, and the labels are still there, and as clear as the first time that I placed them on the sippy cups! Our four and a half year old son recently took some flashlights to school for learning about shadows and getting to make finger shadows on the wall! So I put labels on them!
