Protect Your Family and Their Futures

Do you have life insurance for you or your family? When we had our first child, we didn't think much about it. But after our daughter was born, we purchased life insurance on them, just in case. We wanted to make sure that we have the money if something happens to them and we need some money to help cover a funeral cost. I pray this never happens to us, or to any of you, but it can.

Did you know that life insurance on your family can cost as little as $20 a month?

Did you know that half of Americans say they are under-insured? That’s 58 million* of us. And 70%* of people with kids under 18 say they would be in serious trouble if something happened to the primary breadwinner.

Do you have enough money in your savings account if you or your spouse were to lose their job tomorrow? We try to keep enough in our savings account to help support us for at least 2 to 3 months, or longer, if my husband's position were to be eliminated tomorrow, or he were to be laid off, or worse, fired. We could probably make that money stretch if we had to, but still, sooner or later, we would run out if him or I couldn't find work right away.

Experts say a good rule of thumb is to insure 5 to 10 times your income. It sounds like a lot, but it’s really not. Think about what you’re really worth. Life insurance will help cover the cost of your mortgage, medical and funeral expenses, continuing childcare, living expense and college tuition.

Do you have enough money put away for retirement? I know for sure that we don't. My husband's work puts money into an account, but they gamble it, in the stock market. I don't like this idea. I think the most money that he has had in his account has been a little over $100,000. That's not much, considering that would probably only last us for a few years when he retires.

How many people would have to be hired to do all the things you do for your family? Salary.com estimates the average stay-at-home mom would earn $117,867 per year if she were paid for all the work she does.

Most people feel overwhelmed when they think about this stuff. Your local Allstate agent can talk you through your situation and help you plan for the future today. Allstate and their agents have been helping customers protect their families for over 50 years.

A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song (new version) DVD Giveaway! (U.S.) Ends 9/13

A New version of the classic Cinderella story is coming out on DVD! A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song starring Lucy Hale (from Pretty Little Liars) and Freddie Stroma (who played Cormic McLaggen the last three Harry Potter films) will be released on September 6, 2011.

Over-worked, harried and terrified of being put back in foster care, 17-year-old Katie Gibbs (Lucy Hale) does her stepmother and step-siblings’ bidding without complaining. Vocally gifted, Katie feels particularly upset when forced to lay down singing tracks so that her untalented stepsister, Bev van Ravensway, can hopefully win a recording contract from Massive Records–whose company President, Harvey Morgan, is scouting for new spectacular talent at a talent showcase for the Performing Arts Department at a prestigious private school.

In "A Cinderella Story", Lucy’s character, Katie, dreams of recording her own music, but gets her hopes dashed over and over again by an evil step-mom and step-sister. Lucy is perfect for the role — giving it tons of attitude, charm and a brilliant vocal performance. In fact, her co-star Freddie Stroma was so impressed with her voice, he dubbed her a cross between Adele and Christina Aguilera! (taken from here)

"Game Time: Tackling the Past" P&G Family Movie Night - This Saturday night, Sept. 3rd on NBC!

Fathers and sons will love this movie as much as Moms and daughters. It's a Must See movie for the whole family! The movie stars Ryan McPartlin from the TV show "Chuck," Catherine Hicks, who was the Mom in the TV show "7th Heaven," and actor Beau Bridges!!!

Pro football star Jake Walker returns to the small hometown he left in pursuit of a Hall of Fame career. But when he finds that his contract is not being renewed, he’s forced to reconnect with the family and friends he abandoned along the way. Can this all-star overcome his painful past in order to establish his future?

The movie was actually filmed in Wilmington, NC on a high school football field. While I was watching the movie the first time, I got to chat live with Catherine Hicks! Here are a few things that she said about the movie and her family! "The thing about family drama is that there is sibling rivalry... I am personally an only child & that has its own issues... Each duo in a family has its own dynamics & it's all dramatic!!!"

"In life, things happen & its up to us to interpret the meaning of it... ie... this can destroy me or this can be a sign that we perhaps need to go in a new direction... My personal philosophy is that nothing happens by accident. I don't like thinking that life is random, then it is just meaningless... When it's good it's good, when it's bad, one can despair... In short, you have to have faith!"

"My husband thinks that with today's boys, he thinks that fathers are not strict enough, that they baby them... and that does not create enlightened men... It can be frustrating, I have a young daughter, 19 1/2, it's a tricky balance between respecting their journey & strictly prohibiting their dangerous wanderings... I think reasonable strictness is the right path - and also trusting that they do mature & get better sense..."
