Tune In To "The Dovekeepers" 2-Part Movie Event On CBS, On Tuesday 3/31 & Wednesday 4/1! #TheDovekeepers

THE DOVEKEEPERS, is a four-hour limited event series from executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett which will be broadcast Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1, 2015 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

About The Dovekeepers:

Set in ancient Israel, THE DOVEKEEPERS is based on the true events at Masada in 70 C.E. After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The project will recount the events from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. Additionally, these women, who work together daily as dovekeepers, are all concealing substantial secrets.

Hoffman's novel was published in 2011 by Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, earning the New York Times' bestseller status and widespread critical acclaim, including being hailed by Nobel laureate Toni Morrison as "a major contribution to 21st century literature."

THE DOVEKEEPERS will be brought to television from executive producers Roma Downey and multiple Emmy Award winner Mark Burnett (SURVIVOR, "The Voice"), the production team behind the Emmy-nominated 10-hour miniseries "The Bible," which scored big ratings for the History Channel in March 2013, and the feature "Son of God."

Frank Siracusa, John Weber and Yves Simoneau also serve as executive producers, with Simoneau directing. Ann Peacock adapted the novel for the screen.

THE DOVEKEEPERS is the first project from CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Studios' Limited Series and Event Programming unit. It is a co-production between CBS Television Studios and LightWorkers Media, a division of United Artists Media Group.

My Review:
My children are now seven, five, and two and a half years old. My older two children watched Sesame Street all the time, and they both loved Elmo. But my two and a half year old is a busy little girl when her siblings aren't home, so it's hard to get her to sit still long enough to watch it.

But my two and a half year old daughter sat still and watch a majority of The Best of Elmo 3! She sang and danced along and pointed out her favorite singers and songs that she recognized. As she's really into country music and children's movie soundtracks.

My Review:

I have watched Barbie movies in the past, and I really didn't like them, nor their story lines. But this movie was different. Even though Kara is a princess, she wants to plant a community garden and do more than just plan parties and attend ceremonies. Her parents tell her that the world isn't as safe as she thinks it is, and that her and her sister are princesses and that they should behave like it. The kingdom's faithful sorcerer and right hand man is trouble. He wants to destroy the king and become king himself.

Kara gets kissed on the cheek by a magical butterfly and begins to act different, and then she passes out. When she wakes up it's morning the next day. Then she hears her kitty Parker on a tree branch and she goes to reach the kitty and she starts to fall. Then all of a sudden, she is floating and learns to control it. She also seems to have super strength. Then her two friends make a costume for Kara so that she can make the community garden without her parents knowing it was Kara that made it, but she's too busy helping others. I will leave the rest of the story for you to find out when you watch this great movie!

Beginning April 22, 2015, Disney’s Create Tomorrowland – XPRIZE Challenge invites kids to imagine themselves in the future and report back to the present through video, imagery or stories about one new and amazing invention or innovation they encounter, how it works, and the impact it has on the future.

In June, six winners will have a once–in-a-lifetime mentorship experience with a leader in their area of interest. In addition, each winner will receive a $3,000 check, a 3D Printer from 3D Systems, and registration for FIRST® LEGO® League for the competition season 2015-2016 in the U.S.

Kenneth R. He is the author of the best-selling Building Resilience inChildren and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings (AAP – currently in its 3rd Edition, October 2014).

My Review:
Raising Kids to Thrive is a great book for parents of tweens and teens. I have younger children, but I still found a few points in the book helpful, especially with talking to my seven year old son. He is in first grade, but he says that he doesn't care about things, whatever and that he hates me when I take things away from him.

I learned from reading this book that love, compassion, understanding and listening to my children will help to get us through anything. I know now that my children's opinion in how I parent them is needed at times. As they get older, I will have talks with them about what they want and curfews etc. But I refuse to be their friend. I am their parent, first and foremost, and that won't change.

Raising Kids to Thrive offers three approaches to help you build perspective that will allow you, as a parent, to make well-informed decisions. (This was taken from the introduction in the book.) If offers you science (real answers to real questions), framed questions and tween and teen viewpoints.

Raising Kids to Thrive includes a Stress Management Plan for children and adults (page 127). In everyday life there's almost always something that is going to upset us or stress us out. We need to teach our children how to manage stress and how to roll with the punches, so to speak. This book also teaches parents how to renew their relationships with their children for the better.

If your looking to learn how to talk to your tweens and teenagers, this is the book you want to read. There's some really great advice inside that we could all use as parents.
