To Celebrate International Fairy Day Today, June 24th, The Irish Fairy Door Co. Is Giving Away 25 Fairy Doors! #Giveaway #contests #InternationalFairyDay16

To celebrate International Fairy Day today, June 24th, we are giving away 25 Fairy Doors!

All you have to do to enter to win is tweet using the hastag #InternationalFairyDay16 and tag @IrishFairyDoor

With International Fairy Day on June 24th, the Irish Fairy Door Company is committed now more than ever to find every fairy a home!

For parents who have fallen in love with Elf on the Shelf, the Irish Fairy Door Company is here to spread the magic year-round. Irish Fairy Doors are small hand-made wooden doors that help fairies relocate into human homes (and are simply adorable). Children place the door somewhere in their home (or outside garden) and leave a small key outside the door at night. If the key is gone in the morning, that means a fairy has "moved" in and will live with the family.

The doors also help to foster imaginative play and The Irish Fairy Door Company provides digital content on its website that allows you to register your fairy's name and download stories. You can check out the magic here: http://theirishfairydoorcompany.com/us/

It's easy to be considered. The more you tweet on June 24th, the more chances you have to win your very own Irish Fairy Door.  It's that simple. Just include the hashtag #InternationalFairyDay16 and tag @IrishFairyDoor and you're entered. We will then select at random the winners, who will be contacted the week of June 26th.

To help get you started, below are a few tweet suggestions:
Happy #InternationalFairyDay16! Fairy Day is a day for fairies, magic and wishes to come true. I believe...Do you? @IrishFairyDoor

It's #InternationalFairyDay16! Let's put aside our differences, embrace the unknown and believe in fairies! @IrishFairyDoor

#InternationalFairyDay16 DO YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRIES! I do. @IrishFairyDoor #Believe

Tinkerbell, The Tooth Fairy, The Fairy Godmother, what kind of fairy do you love best? Happy #InternationalFairyDay16 @IrishFairyDoor #Believe

"The Last Stop: Vanishing Rest Stops of the American Roadside" by Ryann Ford, Book #Review! #TheLastStop

The Last Stop does far more than capture the remarkable, effective design of our nation’s road stops. It preserves a moment in time that is quickly fading, a unique period in the American travel experience when the journey was just as important as the destination. It’s clear these modest structures did far more than provide picnic tables, they shaped our collective experience of golden-age car travel across the vast United States.

While driving along historic Route 66 on a solo trip from California to Austin, Texas, photographer Ryann Ford was struck by a recurring sight: a series of humble, solitary rest stops built for motorists during the golden age of car travel. Intrigued by the mock adobe dwellings in New Mexico and faux oil rigs in Texas, Ms. Ford began to investigate the story behind these quirky pieces of mid-century modern architecture.

Using Google Earth, Ms. Ford set out on a quest to document these locales. It was a race against time. With countless commercial options at nearly every highway exit, and states needing to cut expenses, many felt that these old rest stops were no longer necessary, and many were closed and scheduled for demolition. Ms. Ford was determined to capture as many as she could while they were still in existence, doing whatever she needed to get the shot. Whether ducking under fences, stepping over fallen trees, or hiking through the snow, Ford found a way to get the shot.

Collected together for The Last Stop: Vanishing Rest Stops of the American Roadside (powerHouse Books, Summer 2016), Ford’s photographs take us on a memorable ride across the United States, visiting 50 different locales along the way. Included in the book are rest stops in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Illinois, Kansas, Montana, Mississippi, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. With The Last Stop, Ford preserves a moment in the American travel experience.

About Ryann Ford, the Author:
Raised in a Southern California mountain town so small it didn’t even have a stoplight, Ryann Ford had the freedom to explore and observe from a young age. At age 12, she took her first photo using her father’s old Pentax Spotmatic from Vietnam; at age 18 she enrolled in the renowned Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography. Living in Los Angeles, Ryann’s creative work began to focus toward two subjects: artifacts of the abandoned American desert, and the fading landscape of California’s Salton Sea. In 2007, Ryann packed up her things and made the move to Austin, Texas, taking Route 66 to get there. Along the way, she discovered her next photography subject – the rest stop – a project that culminated in The Last Stop series. This work has been covered by outlets such as the New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, and NPR. Ryann is currently a commercial photographer who shoots regularly for such clients as Better Homes and Gardens, The New York Times, and Texas Monthly. Her meticulously composed architectural and interior photography has become an industry favorite, and it is this style – clean and thoughtful – that continues to inform her fine art today.

My Review:
The Last Stop is an amazing book with beautiful photos by Ryann Ford. The book includes a brief history about rest stops and many photographs like the one above and the ones below. Some of the earliest rest stops were built around 1910! If your planning to take a road trip this summer or fall, plan to check out some of these rest stops, and others, because you never know when and if they might be gone someday.

This book would be great for those who like collecting books on travel, people who like to travel, photographs, coffee table books and more! I know that my dad would enjoy it! I can't wait to share this book with our friends the next time they come to visit.

Disney's Latina Princess "Elena of Avalor" Debuts Friday, July 22nd on the Disney Channel!!! #ElenaOfAvalor

'ELENA OF AVALOR' MAKES ROYAL DEBUT FRIDAY, JULY 22
ON DISNEY CHANNEL

Aimee Carrero Stars as the Voice of Princess Elena; Constance Marie, Lou Diamond Phillips, Danny Trejo, Jaime Camil, Ivonne Coll, Tituss Burgess, Ana Ortiz and Hector Elizondo among Guest Stars

Latin Grammy Award Winner Gaby Moreno Performs Series' Theme Song

Princess Elena of Avalor will make her royal debut in the highly anticipated animated series "Elena of Avalor," with a one-hour premiere event FRIDAY, JULY 22 (7:00-8:00 p.m., EDT), on Disney Channel. The theme song is performed by Gaby Moreno, Latin Grammy Award winner for Best New Artist, and Elena's anthem "My Time" is performed by Aimee Carrero.

Set in the enchanted fairytale land of Avalor, the series tells the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who has saved her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen. Elena's journey will lead her to understand that her new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience and compassion, the traits of all truly great leaders.

The stories incorporate influences from diverse Latin and Hispanic cultures through architecture, traditions, food and customs. Magic, mythology, folklore and music also play an important role, with each episode featuring original songs spanning an array of Latin musical styles including Mariachi, Latin Pop, Salsa, Banda and Chilean Hip Hop.

A full-length preview of the first episode, "First Day of Rule," will be available for verified users on the Disney Channel app and Disney Channel VOD platforms beginning Friday, July 1. Following its U.S. debut, the series will roll out globally in 33 languages in 163 countries on Disney Channels worldwide.

In the first episode, Elena officially becomes crown princess and rescues her sister, Isabel, from Noblins, elf-like shapeshifting creatures based on a Chilean peuchen myth. The episode also introduces Zuzo, Elena's spirit guide in the animal world, based on the belief of a Mayan tribe in southern Mexico. In the second episode, titled "Model Sister," Elena is torn between a promise she made to help Isabel and fulfilling her royal duties.

This fall, Disney Channel will air a special TV movie titled "Elena and the Secret of Avalor," which explains how Elena was imprisoned for decades in her magical amulet and eventually set free by Princess Sofia of Enchancia.

Extensions for the series include Disney Parks & Resorts, which will welcome Princess Elena at Walt Disney World Resort this summer and at Disneyland Resort in the fall; print and e-book titles from Disney Publishing; and dolls, role-play products, accessories, home décor and apparel from Disney Store and licensees including Hasbro, Jakks Pacific, Franco Manufacturing and Children's Apparel Network. Products will begin setting later this month at Disney Store and will continue to roll out at mass retailers throughout the summer. Walt Disney Records will release Elena's anthem titled "My Time" as a digital single on iTunes Friday, June 24, followed by a seven-track EP featuring songs from the series on Friday, July 22, and Disney Studios will release an episode compilation DVD later this year.

"Elena of Avalor" stars Aimee Carrero as the voice of Elena; Jenna Ortega as Princess Isabel; Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown and Carlos Alazraqui as the jaquins Migs, Luna and Skylar respectively; Emiliano Díez as Francisco; Julia Vera as Luisa; Christian Lanz as Chancellor Esteban; Jillian Rose Reed as Naomi; Joseph Haro as Mateo; Jorge Diaz as Gabe; Keith Ferguson as Zuzo; and Joe Nunez as Armando.

The recurring guest voice cast includes: Constance Marie as Doña Paloma, Magister of the Traders Guild; Lou Diamond Phillips as Victor Delgado, a debonair villain who uses his charisma to deceive the people around him; Justina Machado and Jaime Camil as siblings Carmen and Julio, who run a restaurant in Avalor; Rich Sommer as Captain Daniel Turner, Naomi's father and harbormaster; Tyler Posey as Prince Alonso, a charming prince from the Argentine-inspired Kingdom of Cordoba; Lucas Grabeel as Jiku, the leader of the Noblins; and Echo Kellum as King Joaquín, a monarch from the Caribbean-inspired Kingdom of Cariza, who is a trusted and close friend of Elena.

The guest voice cast for season one includes: Tituss Burgess as Charoca, a magical volcano creature based on a Chilean myth; Ana Ortiz as Rafa, Mateo's mother; Ivonne Coll as Doña Angelica, an absent-minded and overly dramatic ghost; Hector Elizondo as Fiero, a wicked wizard; Odette Annable as Señorita Marisol, Isabel's enthusiastic young teacher; Danny Trejo as Antonio Agama, a popular Avaloran hero; Anthony Mendez as King Juan Ramón, a monarch from the Argentine-inspired Kingdom of Cordoba; Eden Espinosa as Orizaba, an evil moth fairy banished to the spirit world; Marsai Martin as Cat, a budding scientist and adventurer; Aasif Mandvi as King Raja, a monarch from the Indian-inspired Kingdom of Napurna; and George Takei as King Toshi, a monarch from the Japanese-inspired Kingdom of Satu.

Latin Grammy Award winner Gaby Moreno performs the series' theme song and will also voice a guest role. Born in Guatemala, Moreno performs her music, which ranges from blues to jazz to soul to R&B, in both English and Spanish. In addition to winning the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2013, Moreno was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music in 2010 for co-writing the theme song to "Parks and Recreation."

"Elena of Avalor" was created by Emmy Award winner Craig Gerber, who also serves as executive producer. Silvia Cardenas Olivas is the story editor, and Elliot M. Bour is the supervising director. The series' cultural advisors are Marcela Davison Avilés, founder of The Chapultepec Group, co-founder of the international Latino arts initiative Camino Arts, and Director of Humanities Programs at the FDR Foundation at Harvard University; and Diane Rodriguez, Associate Artistic Director of Centre Theatre Group and co-founder of the theatre ensemble Latins Anonymous, who was recently appointed by President Obama to be a member of the National Council on the Arts.

Emmy Award-nominated Tony Morales ("Hatfields & McCoys") is the composer, Emmy Award winner John Kavanaugh ("Sofia the First") is the songwriter/music director, and acclaimed touring musician and Latin music instructor Rene Camacho serves as Latin music consultant.

Check Out The New Trailer For Disney’s PETE’S DRAGON! #PetesDragon

Check-out the new trailer for Disney’s PETE’S DRAGON, which features spectacular never-before-seen footage of Pete’s dragon, Elliot. The film, which is a reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford and is directed by David Lowery.

A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who just so happens to be a dragon. “Pete’s Dragon” stars Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Oakes Fegley (“This is Where I Leave You”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Oona Laurence (“Southpaw”), Isiah Whitlock, Jr. (“Cedar Rapids”) and Oscar® winner Robert Redford (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”). The film, which is directed by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a screenplay by Malcolm Marmorstein and produced by Jim Whitaker (“The Finest Hours,” “Friday Night Lights”), with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Great Gatsby”) serving as executive producer.

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
