International Talk Like A Pirate Day dates back decades to 1955. Ol' Chumbucket and Cap'n Slappy of Albany, Oregon decided each year, on September 19, we'd all celebrate pirates. Here are a few "pirate words" to work into your vocabulary today!
Ahoy: Say this instead of boring old "hello" or "hi."
Matey: Today, people aren't your "friends" or your "buddies" — they're your mateys!
Aye aye: Can be followed up by the word "captain," but this phrase is to be used to agree to something.
Arrr: Honestly, you can stick this one anywhere, including cheesy phrases like "Arrr, do you want fries with that?"
The U.S. states of Michigan and California have officially recognized the occasion. Krispy Kreme gives out free doughnuts to people who talk and/or dress like pirates on September 19. Long John Silver's has a similar promotion.
To celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day, we are going to be reading Hailey's Pirate Adventure book from I See Me! This book has a photo of her that I sent in on the front page, along with her name throughout the book and the first letter of her first name, "H!" Tomorrow we will be dressing like pirates! Arrr!!!
I See Me sells many personalized children's books, lunch boxes, puzzles, coloring books, placemats, stickers, growth charts and more! Children love personalized products with their names on them. Barry quickly discovers he’s not the only “metahuman” created by the explosive disaster – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Now, to protect the innocent, Barry and his close friends who know his secret, race to combat evildoers in one astonishing adventure after another.
My Review:
I like The Flash. We've seen every episode so far. I can't wait to see what Season 2 holds, even if it means that The Flash is rescuing people every show, then so be it! I'd rather watch that then a show where someone dies every single show and people have to find out who did it, every single show. You can tell that I'm not much for CSI type shows! I like action, Sci-Fi and romance, which The Flash has all of it, and then some! The Flash will keep you interested in the story and in finding out what happened in Barry's past. Which you need to see Season 1 in order to find out some of what happened! Can The Flash get his father out of jail and prove his father's innocents? Watch Season 1 and find out!

Synopsis: With Leonard finally engaged to girl-across-the-hall Penny after countless proposals, the possibilities for happiness seem endless…while the probability for laughs is a foregone conclusion. What’s unknown is how this might impact the ironclad “Roommate Agreement” he’s entered into with Sheldon. Add to this, Sheldon’s uncomfortably close relationship with neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler; Raj’s newfound ability to talk to and date women; and Howard and Bernadette’s solution to an in-house caretaker (their friend Stuart) for the always outspoken Mrs. Wolowitz, and the worlds of science and sitcom are about to hilariously collide! My Review: We watch and record The Big Bang Theory. We have watched Sheldon and Amy grow closer, Howard and Bernadette get married, Howard's mother passing away and Leonard and Penny finally get engaged! If you haven't seen Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory, you really missed a lot. Disclosure: I received a copy of The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eighth Season on DVD in exchange for my post. My Review:
I have used SwaddleDesigns Swaddle Blankets with my youngest daughter. I wish that I would have known about them back in 2007 when my son was born. He loved to be swaddled, it was the only way that he would sleep at night. My youngest daughter was swaddled from the time she was born up until she was around five months old. SwaddleDesigns blankets are the softest swaddle blankets that I have come across. As my daughter turned one year old, it was summer, and she still slept with a swaddle blanket from SwaddleDesigns over her. They are warm enough, yet light weight enough to use year round! Below is a photo of my youngest daughter when she was about 4 or 6 weeks old in a light weight SwaddleDesigns Swaddle blanket.
SwaddleDesigns blankets also make great nursing covers and blankets for toddlers until they are around three years old or so. My youngest daughter is now three. She is using the swaddle blankets at bed time for now, because our nights are still warm. Well, the house doesn't cool down enough for her to use anything else yet. But when she's not using her swaddle blankets to sleep or snuggle with, she is using them as baby blankets for her babies and teddy bears.
You can even turn a light weight swaddle blanket into a baby carrier for your little girls! You will need to research it yourself, but it can be done!

I Want to Eat Your Books (Sky Pony Press) is a delicious introduction to the value of books. When a hungry zombie stumbles into a school looking for books to consume, it’s up to the kids to teach him how books are for reading, not eating! This monster book is silly and fun with a strong message about kindness and friendship. The little zombie teaches kids not to jump to conclusions and to give everyone a chance. Don’t underestimate Ava just because she’s “cute” and wears “adorable glasses”—she’s really a fierce monster slayer. And when her beloved Piggy is left in the dryer in the basement, Ava knows she’ll have to face the ferocious monsters lurking in the dark if she wants to rescue her favorite stuffed animal. So she puts on her brother’s superhero cape, grips his sword tight, puts on her pink rain boots and sparkly princess crown, and creeps downstairs.
Not even the roar of the greenest and hairiest monster is going to stop this spunky girl. Even though she’s scared and the monsters smell terrible, Ava is determined to rescue Piggy. Ross Felten’s brisk, sketch-like illustrations help bring energy and humor to this story of bravery and loyalty. Young readers will relate to Ava’s mission and delight in her victory over the monsters. Ava the Monster Slayer is sure to appeal to children worried about monsters in their own homes and kids devoted to their own stuffed animals.
My Review:
Ava and the Monster Slayer is an adorable book about a little girl who can't sleep without her plush piggy who is in the dryer, inside the basement. Ava is afraid of the dark because her brother told her that there's monsters in the basement that have four arms so they can catch both children if they go downstairs! Ava's mother and father are to busy to help her go down to the basement to get her piggy. So she grabs her brother's cape and sword, and goes downstairs into the basement by herself to rescue her piggy! Ava braves the monsters (in her head) and rescues her piggy despite her fears! This book is perfect for children ages 3 to 7.

A cute little Halloween pumpkin announces that he is ready for a Halloween adventure. So he prepares to set out on the exploration of a lifetime. However, his ever watchful and caring mother wants to make sure he’s prepared before he takes that first step outside.
The little pumpkin will begin his adventure on a witch’s broom, where he will fly through the skies. Next, he’ll dare to venture through the very spookiest haunted house. And to celebrate the night, he’ll dance to the “Monster Mash”! It’s scary out there on Halloween night, but his mother is packing a parachute just in case he falls, a blankie for reassurance, and his favorite monster shoes so he can boogie-woogie all night long. Whatever adventures he has, he is sure to be prepared. Halloween isn’t so scary when you have a mother pumpkin making sure you’re ready for whatever frights might come your way! Great for children ages 3 to 6 years old.
My Review:
The Runaway Pumpkin: A Halloween Adventure Story (Sky Pony Press) is about a little Pumpkin who wishes to explore Halloween. He wants to fly on a witches broom, go trick or treating, visit a spooky house, and dance at a Halloween party! His mother tells him then that she will give him a parachute to keep him safe, a pirate costume so that he can go trick or treating, his blankey so that he won't be scared in the spooky house and dancing shoes so that he can dance the night away. Then she tells him that he should come with her, so that they may explore Halloween together.

Cast: Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Neel Sethi and Christopher Walken
Director: Jon Favreau
Producers: Jon Favreau, Brigham Taylor
Screenplay by: Justin Marks
Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

Thomas & Friends: Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure is an all-new movie highlighting teamwork, discovery, bravery, friendship and working together to help each other overcome obstacles. The film introduces three brand-new locations and four new friends as the 70th anniversary year of Thomas continues.
Surprises await Thomas and his friends as they dig up their most daring adventure yet. Unearthing an old pirate ship, Thomas is on the hunt for Sodor's lost treasure. When Thomas rocks the boat with some new friends, trouble soon rushes in. Will Thomas track down the treasure in time or will Sailor John set sail with it? Join Thomas & Friends in this explosive movie adventure! The voice cast includes a host of big stars including Eddie Redmayne, Sir John Hurt, and Olivia Colman.
My Review:
Thomas & Friends: Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure Thomas starts off by having a race with Bernie the Bus! Thomas is messing around with Gordon and takes his couches and he doesn't see that the light is red because Thomas is pushing them from behind. The couches end up crashing and Emily just misses crashing into them, so Sir Topham Hat tells Thomas to go work in the construction yard. They are building a new train line on another part of the island of Sodor and the ground below the rails is weak. They put up signs, and again, Thomas was pushing a bunch of cars full of wood from behind, so he didn't see them. Thomas ends up on the bad rails and falls into a big whole along with all of the cars, and he finds a Pirate Ship! A new engine joins the team named Ryan, who Thomas learns is a good little engine like Thomas. Also we learn about Skip, a little sailboat, and Sailor John. You will have to buy or win the movie to watch the rest!
This is by far, one of my favorite Thomas & Friends movies!
