The Wallet Story...

As you know, we were on vacation the whole month of October and drove from TN to CA and back again, visiting friends and family along the way. We decided to leave early on Sept. 30th to drive 4 hours with the kids, 15 months ...and 3 years old, to Cordova, TN, near Memphis. I packed everything that we might ever need, and then some. We decided to go out to dinner at Cracker Barrel a few exits from our hotel. I went to check for my wallet because I always take it inside places with me, I never leave it in the car, and it wasn't there. I told my husband that I had no idea where it was, and I didn't.

We called our neighbor who was taking care of our dogs and asked her to go inside the house and look in different places around our home that I would have left it, the kitchen counter, my nightstand, etc. We were thinking if she found it, we would have her overnight it to us.

It wasn't there. So we went and parked at the hotel parking lot and I went inside and asked them if we could cancel our hotel reservation, and they said no. By now, it was 8pm at night. So we had to turn around and drive back home to find my wallet. I had to have my credit cards, medical card, and most of all, my driver's license since we were not going to be home for a month.

So we got back on the road and headed for home, yes, we drove the whole 4 hours back home. When we got home, it was 12:30a.m. We put the kids in bed and went looking for my wallet. I looked everywhere. The day before I had taken our little Nissan Versa and the kids grocery shopping for our trip. My husband decided to look in the garage and car for my wallet. Well, it was underneath the seat in the garage, locked in the car. Great place for it to be, at least it was safe, but it was not fun to have this story told over and over again to our friends and family during our whole trip by my husband. He now always asks me if I have my wallet. I am now really careful to keep it in my sight and I always try to keep it in my purse or in the diaper bag and no where else.
