SOLO: A Star Wars Story - Movie Review! #HanSolo

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany.

My Thoughts:
Ron Howard is the director! Han is awesome! The woman who plays Qi'ra is a GREAT actress! Lando is pretty good, his droid sidekick is voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and she's awesome! This droid has tons of personality and sometimes even, steals the show! The Millennium Falcon is so cool! It was really cool finding out how Han Solo won it!

My almost six and nine year old daughters were bored. My six year old stayed awake but she kept messing around in her seat. My almost nine year old went to sleep. She wasn't really tired, so much as the movie was boring to her and long. It was over two hours, which is fine for adults, but not for kiddos nine or younger. I feel that boys and girls ages 10 and up will like this movie if they like Star Wars, Chewbacca and Han Solo! But, every child is different, so heaven knows if your kiddos will be like mine, or if they might just LOVE it!

Don't go to this movie expecting a normal Star Wars movie. Because this is similar, but yet, different. It also tells about how the rebellion got started, not just about Han Solo, Lando, Chewy and the Falcon. Overall, this is a great movie, no nudity, no bad language!

Daphne and Velma - Movie Review! #DaphneVelma

Disclosure: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own. No other compensation was exchanged or received.

About the Movie:
State of the art robots and high-tech gadgets are common sights at Ridge Valley High, an innovative center of learning for some of the brightest minds in the country, including new transfer student, the bright & optimistic Daphne Blake (Sarah Jeffery) who is excited to finally go to school with her online bestie, the whip-smart & analytical Velma Dinkley (Sarah Gilman). But not everything is as innocent as it seems as mysterious disappearances begin to plague the top-performing students on campus. Once cheery and full of life, kids now appear in a “zombiefied” state – lifeless and shells of themselves. Can Daphne and Velma learn to work together and save the students or will they become the next victims? Get ready for thrills and laughs as we follow the first adventures of Mystery Inc.’s fierce female duo.

My thoughts:
Velma and Daphne live in two different worlds. Online, they are great friends. But once Daphne moves and starts to attend the same school as Velma, things change. Daphne views Velma as her good friend who is so smart. But Velma is a klutz, and people at their school make fun of her and post videos online of her that aren't so nice.

But then, Velma and Daphne run into each other and the lights as the school are acting crazy. So the girls start investigating to figure out what's going on when they find a secret passage. Daphne ran into her dad at the school, and it was kind of weird. He claims that he was following her in school. He said that she's not the luckiest girl in the world, that he follows her around everywhere to do things to make her feel as though she is!

Someone or some thing in the school is turning teenagers at Daphne and Velma's school, into zombies. After the teens are sent a cute cat video, they go into a locker and they say nothing but "I'm good," and nothing seems to effect them.

Will Daphne and Velma find out who is behind this, or will they be turned into zombies themselves? Rent or purchase your copy of Daphne and Velma today to see how their friendship developed and how they turned into great detectives!

Hungry For Love - Romance Novel - Book Review!

About the book:
Hungry for Love follows Elizabeth, a dentist in her late thirties, who is coping with the unimaginable – her husband is in a coma, and there is little hope for recovery. Added to that, she’s dealing with a lot of other baggage: unresolved grief over her mother’s death, mixed feelings towards her stepmother, a job she hates, and a disapproving father.

As Elizabeth battles against her dissatisfaction and comes to terms with the fact that her husband may never recover, she’s hit with the unexpected. She meets – and falls in love with – another man. As she finally opens up to him and allows herself to be happy again, life takes yet another turn. Her husband wakes up from the coma, and everything is immediately thrown into chaos. She feels torn between two men she loves deeply – but does she really have to choose between them? Would it be at all possible to have both? Can Elizabeth have her cookie and eat it too, without her world falling apart in the process?

More on the author, Maya Sacher, can be found on Facebook and Goodreads.

My Review:
I couldn't put this book down! I kept finding time to read it! Elizabeth is a great character and so is her husband and this man that she meets unexpectedly! This book is well written and easy read, but not predictable at all! If your look for a few hours or days to sit down and read a book that you can't put down, this one's for you!

Purchase your copy today at your local book retailer or on Amazon. (non-affiliate link!)

Disclosure: I received one paperback copy of "Hungry For Love" from Smith Publishing in exchange for my review post. No other compensation was exchanged or received. The information under "My Review" is my own personal opinion and thoughts about the book.

My Review:
LEGO® DC Super Hero Girls: Super-Villain High does not disappoint! The girls become divided when some of them are looking for something different then the school that they are going to. Super-Villain High has lots of cool things and benefits compared to the Super Hero Girls high school. So at first, it seems as though the girls are doing things for the greater good, when it turns out, that they are stealing for Ms. Luther. If your girls love Legos and the Super Hero Girls, they will LOVE this movie!

Screen-Free Fun - Book Review! #ScreenFreeFun

I am sharing about a book below called "Screen-Free Fun: 400 Activities For the Whole Family." While many of you know about things you can do with your children without watching television, playing video games or letting them play on iPads, tablets, their phones and more, there are many activities inside this book that you've never thought of before!

The tips in Shannon’s book help parents to fight against boredom, keeps little hands busy during travel time, craft time, and outdoor adventures.

Since many of the activities work well for kids at various ages, they will be able to grow along with the different projects, and occupy both younger and older siblings alike. There is also space for readers to add their own favorite activities, so they never forget a great idea or memory!

Shannon Philpott-Sanders (Collinsville, IL) has written extensively about the joys of parenting for local and national newspapers and magazines throughout her fifteen-year career as a freelance journalist. A mother of two, she has dedicated herself to becoming a lifelong learner when it comes to parenting her son and daughter who are now in their late teens.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Philpott-Sanders holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in English. When she is not writing and offering tips for fun-filled experiences with children, she serves as an associate professor of English at St. Louis Community College – Meramec and advises the student-run newspaper.

My Review:
I know about some of the ideas in this book, but not all of them. Sometimes my brain is just blank on what to do with my three children, and sometimes, it's full of ideas. But Screen-Free Fun helps me now to come up with ideas not only for my own children, but for my Daisy Girl Scout Troop and more! I tend to volunteer to watch other people's children. So I now keep this book with me, along with coloring pages, blank paper, yarn, scissors, safety pins, crayons, markers, bubbles, chalk, and more! I keep them all inside of my utility bag, which I couldn't live without!

Purchase your own copy today on Amazon and join in on the fun and enjoy some Screen Free activities, games and more with your family. Create new bonds and fix those that have been broken. Maybe this week will keep your children from doing something crazy, like eating laundry pods!

Disclosure: I received one copy of "Screen-Free Fun" book in exchange for my post. No other compensation was exchanged or received.

Laser X Micro Blasters #Review! #GetLaserX #LaserTag

Depending on where you live, either your kids are already out of school or they will be in the next week or few weeks. We all need things for our children to do during the summer. Especially things that will keep them active and always learning. If your children love video games, Laser X will get them off the couch for a fun game of laser tag with an updated, technologically-advanced laser blaster system.

Micro Blasters are the newest addition to a line of products that includes: original Laser X, which blasts 200 feet; a Long-Range Blaster, which blasts 400 feet; and a Gaming Tower with 10-built-in games.

Like other Laser X gear, Micro Blasters feature state-of-the-art lighting and sound effects that bring the excitement of a laser tag arena right to your own backyard. Strap a receiver onto your upper arm, and blast opponents up to 100 feet away. Reloading is easier than ever; Just press and hold the trigger.

All Laser X sets work together, so games can have as few as two players – or the whole neighborhood can play together. Advanced sensors in the Laser X blaster know when players are blasting, being hit, running or hiding. An interactive "coach" uses this information to give players tips and tricks throughout the game.

The new 5-inch Laser X Micro Blasters fit easily into bags and backpacks and are great for games on-the-go! Laser X Micro Blasters may be small, but they deliver big fun. Just strap on a receiver and blast opponents up to 100 feet away!

My Review:
My three children and I LOVE the Laser X Micro Blasters! They each require three AAA batteries which are easy to place into the bottom of the gun. With our crazy weather here in middle Tennessee, it's great to have the option to play with items indoors that bring just as much fun if they were played outdoors too! We are still learning about the games that we can play with them, as I only skimmed through the instructions. I can't wait to play with them some more and learn more about the micro blaster games.

These work really well and the sound effects are awesome! The batteries have lasted for hours of play so far! I hope they last for many more before I have to replace them. We are going to have to purchase a double set, as my children now want to play with the neighbors too! The armbands will fit adults also!!!

Micro Blasters are recommended for ages 6+ and retail for $29.99 for a double set and $14.99 to equip a single player. The game is available at GetLaserX.com and is coming soon to Toys "R" Us, Walmart, Costco and Target.

Disclosure: I received one set of Laser X micro blasters in exchange for my post. No other compensation was received or exchanged. The above information under my review are my opinions and my opinions alone.
