The Worldwide Day of Play is on September 24th, 2011! It's the centerpiece of Nickelodeon's "The Big Help," a program set up to empower kids and families to make healthy lifestyle choices every day. On Saturday, September 24th, kids and families are being encouraged to participate in the Worldwide Day of Play to turn off the TV and play outside. Being physical and playing outside can improve your health and the health of your family, as well as the self-esteem and well being of children. Teach your children about being healthy and limit the amount of TV they watch daily. Encourage them to be more physical and to play outside a few times a day.

My children and I spend at least one to two days a week outside playing. We take walks, ride bikes, they play in their kiddie pool, blow bubbles, have races, draw on our drive way or sidewalk with sidewalk chalk, run and play with our dogs, fly kites, play in our above ground swimming pool, and more! My children love to paint, color, and play with play dough! It's so much easier to clean up these messes outside then it is inside! I just grab the hose to rinse off my children and their messes! They really love running through the spray from the hose!
My friends and I set up weekly play dates at our local park. It's great to catch up and watch our children play together! I always keep a camera in my pocket too! It's so great to get photos of my children playing at the park, and I don't have to turn on the lights in our home to get a great photo. We will soon be able to play in Autumn colored piles of leaves that our neighbors trees have dropped on the ground! I can hardly wait! This also makes for some great memories, and photos to use on Christmas Cards!
