My Review:

Elio is a super cute family movie! It starts out a little slow, but once it gets going, it doesn't stop. There are some adorable characters in this animated film. There's a few lessons to be learned in this movie too! One of my favorites, "Never judge a book by it's cover." The story of Elio is about him losing his parents and having to live with his aunt. His aunt doesn't quite understand Elio and doesn't have a lot of time to spend with him because she works a lot. Elio is full of adventure and sweet, heartfelt moments that might make you tear up.

Lilo and Stich Movie Review! #LiliAndStitch

My Review:

I thought that this was a cute movie! It's similar, but yet, different than the original animated film, but it's really good. There were a few parts that I missed seeing from the animated film, but this live action version was worth taking the time to watch and it was overall a good family movie.

The wave of fun and laughter keeps rolling when the billion-dollar live-action hit Lilo & Stitch finally arrives on Disney+ on September 3. Share this out-of-this-world comedy with your ‘ohana anytime, anywhere, and enjoy an unforgettable adventure wrapped in chaos, charm, and cuteness.

THE SHORT GAME!

In theaters Today, August 29th, 2025!!!

My Review:

After a three minute and ten second movie intro, the movie finally starts. I'm not used to long movie intros since most movies have short ones, if any at all these days.

Two teenagers, Tommy and Jeremy are practicing and talking about golf. Jeremy Avery, has a younger brother Ethan is autistic and knows a lot of information about trees, drawing, and golf too!

Ethan has been watching golf shows and studying his brother's golf games for years. Ethan tells his brother which way to aim when Jeremy is getting ready to hit the ball into the hole. Jeremy ignores what Ethan says and doesn't make it into the hole, but Jeremy's friend Tommy listens to Ethan, and hits the ball straight into the hole. Jeremy goes golfing alone and take Ethan with him, and he finally starts realizing just what a genius his brother Ethan is! 

Jeremy has a state competition golf tournament and takes Ethan with him as his caddy. Jeremy is playing with another teen, Bruce Bennett. Bruce and his dad file complaints against Ethan, but....I'll let you watch the movie to see what happens as a result. I wouldn't want to give away the rest of the movie. It's about an hour and a half long, which is perfect time for telling this amazing story of never giving up your dreams.

Synopsis:

Jeremy Avery is vying for a college golf scholarship awarded to the winner of the State Championship, but his preparation and game are affected by family pressures and having to take care of his younger autistic brother, Ethan. These challenges, along with the pressure of carrying his team to State against an opponent who will do anything to win, leads Jeremy on a journey of discovery both internal and of his brother’s savant-like gifts, that if embraced can create an unstoppable pair. On the brink of his greatest victory, Jeremy is forced to make a life-altering decision, finally realizing his own personal dreams or standing by his brother.

2025 Christmas Gift Guide and More!

 

I've been receiving emails about creating another Christmas Gift Guide. I not only want to this year, but I also want to get back to basics on our giving. Most of us can't afford hardly anything right now. Most of us are living paycheck to paycheck, or worse. Gifts aren't about how much money we spend on others. Gifts are from the heart and can be homemade, baked, cooked, crocheted, knitted, sewed, built, etc. We need to go back to that. We need to go Christmas Caroling, give baked goods to our friends, neighbors and families. We need to use what Christmas stuff we already have and not go out and buy more.

Our cats keep chewing up the wires on our Christmas tree lights. But I'm not going to go out and buy more. I'm going to find out how I can either put the wires back together with some electrical tape and get them working again with some wire strippers, or, we will put on a string of lights that in no way match the others that are on our tree. It is what it is, but we will use that tree for as long as we can.

Here's to rebuilding my blog, starting a new Christmas Gift Guide, and to another great Christmas without all of this consumerism.

The Animated DC Super Hero family film will be available for purchase on Digital on November 15 and rental on November 26!

Merry Little Batman, the animated family action-adventure film featuring Bruce Wayne/Batman and his son Damian, will be available to purchase on Digital on November 15 and to rent on November 26.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, the action-packed DC animated family film is directed by Mike Roth from a screenplay by Morgan Evans & Jase Ricci and a story by Evans & Roth, based on the characters created by DC.  The film is produced by Rebecca Palatnik. Sam Register and Mike Roth serve as executive producers.

Merry Little Batman features the voices of Luke Wilson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Yonas Kibreab as Damian Wayne/Little Batman, James Cromwell as Alfred Pennyworth, David Hornsby as The Joker, Dolph Adomian as Mr. Freeze, Brian George as The Penguin, Therese McLaughlin as Poison Ivy, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams as Vicki Vale, Reid Scott as Commissioner Gordon, and Chris Sullivan as Bane.

Christie claimed that this novel was the hardest for her to write. It became her best-selling novel and the best-selling mystery of all time, with more than 100 million copies sold. Most critics and fans consider it her masterpiece. An unknown host lures 10 strangers to an island off the coast of Devon, and the deteriorating quality of their meals heightens the tension. At first, the food and drink provide goodwill, but after two guests die, meals decline in sustenance and goodwill. (“Eight little Soldier Boys travelling in Devon; / One said he’d stay there, and then there were seven.”) 

By the time half of the guests have died, the survivors meet in the kitchen and eat from tins, standing up. Boiled potatoes lie exactly halfway between comfort food and bare bones. 

Use whole potatoes of the same size so they cook evenly.

1 pound (450 grams) small potatoes

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

½ teaspoon sea salt

1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the potatoes and cover them with cold water by 1 inch (2.5 centimeters).

2. Add half the salt and bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, until tender, about 8–15 minutes. If too much water boils off, add a little more.

3. After 8 minutes, poke the potatoes with a skewer. When it moves easily through the center, they’re done.

4. Drain the potatoes and place in a serving bowl.

5. Drizzle the potatoes with the melted butter, season with the remaining salt, toss gently, and serve.

In the chronologically final novel to feature both Poirot and Mrs. Oliver, Christie revisits her feelings about literary luncheons. Mrs. Oliver always declines invitations to them: “What a mistake for an author to emerge from her secret fastness,” said the fictitious crime writer in Mrs. McGinty’s Dead. But this time Mrs. Oliver does go, enjoying the speakers, her luncheon companion, and the food very much—especially these French meringues.

4 large eggs, room temperature

1 pinch fine salt

1 cup (200 grams) superfine (caster) sugar 

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C).

2. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

3. Carefully separate the egg whites from the yolks.

4. With a stand mixer fitted with a medium bowl and a whisk attachment, whisk together the egg whites and salt on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

5. Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, while continuing to whisk. Continue until all the sugar has dissolved.

6. Add in the vanilla extract and whisk on high for 3–5 more minutes, until the mixture stiffens.

7. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the meringue mixture on the lined baking sheets. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.

8. Decrease the heat to 200°F (90°C) and bake the meringues for 1 hour 30 minutes.

9. Turn the oven off and leave the meringues inside it overnight, or at least 8 hours, to cool completely.

10. Store them in an airtight tin for up to 1 week.

What’s in a name? You’ve seen all the descriptive terms: French Roast, Breakfast Roast, Espresso, Viennese, Blonde Roast, and more. But did you know that they’re all variations on just three basic categories? That’s right, that java you’re drinking is generally either light, medium, or dark roast.

All coffee beans, whether they’re destined to be light, medium, or dark roasted, start out green. The heat of the roasting process causes them to dry out, change color, and develop their coffee-like character. The longer the roast, the darker they become.

Master coffee roasters are part artisans/part scientists, and their tools are time and temperature. They carefully monitor the roasting process to determine the exact moment each batch reaches the desired character.

Light Roast: You’ll sometimes see monikers like Blonde, Light City, or Cinnamon Roasts, and they’re all part of the Light Roast family. You may be surprised to know that light roasts have more caffeine and higher acidity than their darker bean brethren. Medium Roast: The best choice for those who love a balanced, smooth cup of coffee, Medium Roast beans are roasted at about 410°F – 428°F. Look for labels like Breakfast or American Roast. These coffees are a little deeper, darker, and sweeter than light roasts.
