Pilgrim's Progress - Illustrated Storybook and Fandango Movie Tickets Giveaway (3 Winners)! (U.S) Ends 4/14 @10am CST
ABOUT:
Based on John Bunyan’s epic masterpiece, THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS is one of the most popular books of all time, and one of the most important stories of our faith! Second to the Bible in total copies and translations, the story was written by John Bunyan a pastor, imprisoned for sharing his faith.
This powerful allegory helps families understand the spiritual journey is the most important journey in life, as well as the importance of sticking to the path, even when the journey gets difficult.
Themes:
- Faith
- Redemption
- Hope
- Perseverance
My thoughts:
A little dark and dismal in the beginning. Christian reads a book, possibly the bible, but it doesn't say. He starts feeling this weight on himself that he needs to leave the city. He tries to convince his wife and children to leave with him. His wife replied, that he has to choose to either leave by himself, or stay with her and the children.
The movie seems incomplete, then showing Christian walking along a path and then hiding because of two men meeting and talking about a missing man and the war that's coming. But Christian has nothing with him, no backpack, or anything. Then in the next scene, he is wearing a backpack. But it's not a backpack, it's his burden.
Then it shows one of the men that transformed into a scary animal, and then into a human and goes to talk to his Master. The master is angry and shoots out a large fireball at the man, which scared me at first.
Christian encounters many obstacles. He was told to stay on the path and not to look or go to the right or left. Does he stay on the path to the city of light? Or does he end up with a heavier burden and on the wrong path?
