LEGO® Friends: Always Together DVD #Review! #Lego #LegoFriends #ad

Disclosure: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

The episodes of LEGO® Friends: Always Together, follow best friends Andrea, Stephanie, Olivia, Emma and Mia throughout a diverse array of expeditions in their hometown. From entering a talent contest, to going camping – and even assisting in running a hotel – the girls combine their eclectic skill sets and unique interests to seize the day. In each adventure, they are faced with adversity but quickly learn that anything is possible when you work together!

Five best friends are reunited as they embark in all sorts of adventures across Heartlake City in LEGO Friends: Always Together, a continuation of the popular TV specials currently airing on the Disney Channel.

From the back cover:
A talent show has come to Heartlake City, and all the girls enter the competition hoping to impress the judges, especially their idol, pop star Chloe, in Andrea's Big Moment. No one is more excited than Olivia about science camp at a beautiful, rocky offshore island with a lighthouse. But Olivia quickly gets of on the wrong foot with a mysterious girl named Kate who seems obsessed with a medallion necklace and the island's rumored history of pirates and treasure in Kate's Island. The girls have come for breakfast at the fanciest hotel in town, now owned by Andrea's family. When Andrea's aunt has to leave town, the girls volunteer to run the hotel for the weekend with the help of a quirky Grandma Jean in The Grand Hotel.

Each character in the LEGO Friends: Always Together story has unique personality traits and hobbies to appeal to children of all interests and passions. Through positive messages of teamwork, perseverance and acceptance, viewers will learn some of life’s most important lessons, all while following the five girls through three exciting episodes!

My Review:
I like watching the LEGO Friends animated shows. They are almost always about friendship, being nice to others, being a good friend, helping others and more. It's also neat to see some of the Legos used in the animated shows are actually Lego sets that we can purchase for my girls to play with too! If you have girls ages three and up, they will like watching the Lego Friends shows on DVD or on The Disney Channel.

In The Grand Hotel episode, everyone tries to help out in the hotel that one of the girl's grandmother's owns because a local critic is coming. One of the Lego Friends watches the dogs, Emma watches children (daycare at the hotel), Mia helps cook in the kitchen, etc. Running the daycare becomes more than Emma can handle when she loses the children! Then the fun begins!

We have been picking a new DVD to watch every day to two, as it's been super warm here outside in Tennessee and raining! You would swear that we live in Seattle, WA, but nope! We get a lot of rain in the summer in Tennessee. I am finally getting used to the heat outside here and being outside with my kiddos, and BAM! Rain, and lot of it!

So when it's hot outside, super cold or raining cats and dogs, put in a copy of LEGO Friends: Always Together on DVD and enjoy either one 20 minute show, or the whole 120 minute DVD!

Set in the enchanted fairytale land of Avalor, the series tells the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who has saved her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen. Elena's journey will lead her to understand that her new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience and compassion, the traits of all truly great leaders.

The stories incorporate influences from diverse Latin and Hispanic cultures through architecture, traditions, food and customs. Magic, mythology, folklore and music also play an important role, with each episode featuring original songs spanning an array of Latin musical styles including Mariachi, Latin Pop, Salsa, Banda and Chilean Hip Hop.

A full-length preview of the first episode, "First Day of Rule," will be available for verified users on the Disney Channel app and Disney Channel VOD platforms beginning Friday, July 1. In the first episode, Elena officially becomes crown princess and rescues her sister, Isabel, from Noblins, elf-like shapeshifting creatures based on a Chilean peuchen myth. The episode also introduces Zuzo, Elena's spirit guide in the animal world, based on the belief of a Mayan tribe in southern Mexico. In the second episode, titled "Model Sister," Elena is torn between a promise she made to help Isabel and fulfilling her royal duties.

This fall, Disney Channel will air a special TV movie titled "Elena and the Secret of Avalor," which explains how Elena was imprisoned for decades in her magical amulet and eventually set free by Princess Sofia of Enchancia.

Extensions for the series include Disney Parks & Resorts, which will welcome Princess Elena at Walt Disney World Resort this summer and at Disneyland Resort in the fall; print and e-book titles from Disney Publishing; and dolls, role-play products, accessories, home décor and apparel from Disney Store and licensees including Hasbro, Jakks Pacific, Franco Manufacturing and Children's Apparel Network. Products will begin setting later this month at Disney Store and will continue to roll out at mass retailers throughout the summer. Walt Disney Records will release Elena's anthem titled "My Time" as a digital single on iTunes Friday, June 24, followed by a seven-track EP featuring songs from the series on Friday, July 22, and Disney Studios will release an episode compilation DVD later this year.

Second Seasons Ordered for Hit Animated Series
"The Lion Guard" and "Goldie & Bear"

Disney Junior has ordered two new animated series, "Vampirina," executive-produced by "Doc McStuffins" creator Chris Nee, and "Puppy Dog Tails," created by comedian Harland Williams. Both series have begun production and are slated to premiere in 2017.  Disney Junior, which includes a daily programming block on Disney Channel and a 24-hour channel, #1 among all preschooler networks in Total Day, Kids 2-5, Girls 2-5 and Women 18-49 for three consecutive years, has also ordered second seasons of its hit animated series "The Lion Guard" and "Goldie & Bear." The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Original Programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

Kanter said, "Five years ago, we launched Disney Junior with the goal of providing inspired storytelling and aspirational characters that would resonate with our young audience and their parents and caregivers, while also introducing age appropriate social-emotional concepts and other key learnings relevant to kids age 2-7. Our programming has upheld these values and we are pleased to introduce two new series that are sure to do the same."

"Vampirina," inspired by Disney Publishing's popular children's book series "Vampirina Ballerina," tells the story of a young vampire girl who faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania. Many of the key creative professionals behind Disney Junior's Peabody Award-winning series "Doc McStuffins" are at the helm, including executive producer Chris Nee and co-executive producer Norton Virgien. Nicky Phelan ("Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty") is directing the series, and the Academy Award-nominated animation studio Brown Bag Films is producing in association with Disney Junior.

"Puppy Dog Tails," created by comedian and actor Harland Williams, centers on two fun-loving pug puppies, Bingo and Rolly, whose thrill-seeking appetites take them on daily adventures around their neighborhood and beyond. Williams also serves as consulting producer with Sean Coyle ("The Awesomes," "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse") as executive producer and Dean Batali ("That '70s Show") as story editor. The series is a production of Wild Canary in association with Disney Junior.

Disney Junior's newest hit series "The Lion Guard," continues the epic storytelling of "The Lion King" and follows the adventures of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, and his diverse group of friends as they unite to protect the Pride Lands. The story of Kion and his friends was introduced in the animated television movie "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar," which premiered on Disney Channel in November 2015 and became the #1 primetime cable TV telecast of 2015 among Kids 2-5.

"The Lion Guard" series premiered in January 2016 and, for the second consecutive month, ranked as the #1 series across preschooler networks in Total Viewers and key target preschoolers 2-5. In February 2016, the series placed among the month’s Top 10 series with Kids 2-5 across all cable TV networks for its airings on both Disney Junior and Disney Channel. Ford Riley ("Special Agent Oso") is executive producer and Howy Parkins ("Jake and the Never Land Pirates") is co-executive producer and supervising director. The Education and Science experts at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park serve as consultants and author and Swahili expert Sarah Mirza is the language and cultural advisor. "The Lion Guard" is a production of Disney Television Animation.

"Goldie & Bear," 2015's #1 series across preschool networks, chronicles the adventures of best friends Goldie and Bear following the story of "Goldilocks and The Three Bears." The series was developed for television and is co-executive produced by Jorge Aguirre ("Giants Beware!" graphic novel series); Chris Gilligan ("Frankenweenie") is executive producer and director. Disney Junior will debut the first six episodes of fairytale-inspired "Goldie & Bear" on the popular WATCH Disney Junior platforms, beginning SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, with one new episode premiering on the WATCH Disney Junior app and WATCH Disney Junior.com each Monday from September 21 through October 12. Set in the magical world of Fairy Tale Forest, the animated series for kids age 2-7 reunites Goldie and Bear, after the renowned porridge incident featured in "Goldilocks and The Three Bears." The series premieres on November 11 on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

Reflecting Disney's deep roots in storytelling that resonates across generations, "Goldie & Bear" captures the timeless appeal of sharing stories through fairy tales, folk tales and nursery rhymes. Each episode features two 11-minute stories that showcase the new, unexpected friendship between Goldie and Bear as they seek out fun and adventure along with their friends and neighbors, all of whom are drawn from beloved storybook characters. Whether it's helping the Big Bad Wolf learn to consider others before blowing down their houses, helping Jack and Jill get up that hill, or rescuing accident-prone Humpty Dumpty after his great fall, Goldie and Bear enjoy living in a fairytale world filled with real-life situations, humorous mishaps and heartfelt moments.

Beginning where the classic tales leave off, "Goldie & Bear" celebrates the distinct personalities of Goldie, Bear and their quirky pals, and encourages children to develop their own enchanting friendships. The series is populated with a diverse cast of storybook characters who model friendship, community, respect for individuality, resilience in the face of adversity and compassion for others, and is meant to spark conversations among kids and parents about the narratives and morals highlighted by Goldie and Bear's unlikely friendship and their comedic interactions in Fairy Tale Forest.

Maria Tatar, chair of Harvard University's program in Folklore and Mythology and series consultant, advising on storytelling, fairy tales and folklore, said, "When we are stumped, a story often provides the answer - not in the form of a one-liner but in a conversation about the things that mattered to us in the tale."

DisneyJunior.com and WATCH Disney Junior will roll out a suite of more than 20 "Goldie & Bear" micro-games throughout the fall, with the first six debuting with the series.  Housed in a storybook containing an interactive map of Fairy Tale Forest, each game centers on a classic fairy tale or nursery rhyme character.

"Goldie & Bear" stars Natalie Lander ("The Middle") as Goldie and Georgie Kidder ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as Bear. Recurring guest stars include Lesley Nicol ("Downton Abbey") as Fairy Godmother, Isabella Day ("Cristela") as little witch Rosita, Debby Ryan ("Jessie") as Thumbelina and Miles Brown and Marsai Martin ("black-ish") as Jack & Jill.  "Goldie & Bear" was developed for television and is co-executive produced by Jorge Aguirre ("Giants Beware!" graphic novel series); Chris Gilligan ("Frankenweenie") is executive producer and director; Joe Ansolabehere ("Recess") is story editor and Rob Cantor (from the band Tally Hall) is songwriter.

WATCH Disney Junior makes full-length episodes of popular Disney Junior shows, games and show-themed activities available to fans on their desktop, mobile and connected TV devices.  Viewers who verify with a participating pay TV service can also watch a live stream of the linear channel feed and access exclusive content.
