Red Yellow Blue (And a Dash of White Too!) - Children's Book #Review!

A little girl is about to discover the wonders of mixing colors. With the sound of paint splatter, a bright blue elephant named EleBooyah appears. She wants to help paint, too! Pretty soon, the girl and her elephant are playing with all the colors of the rainbow. What other creatures are waiting for the splatter of paint on a brush to join the raucous painting party? Esperanza's creative and unique rhythmic stanzas are sure to intrigue children, and the vibrant illustrations are a riot of color and magic.

Charles George Esperanza is a graduate of FIT, a prolific artist, and the illustrator of Jackie and Me. Red, Yellow, Blue (and a Dash of White, Too!) is his children’s book author debut.

My Review:
This book is perfect for my six and three year old daughters! My three year old is learning about colors and color words, and my six year old is learning that mixing colors together can create new ones! This book is perfect for children from ages two to six. The younger children will love the animals and colors of this book! The little girl in the story has quite an imagination! The illustrations help to bring the story and her imagination to life with lots and lots of color! We will be reading this book for two to three more years in this house, that's for sure!

Sophie's Animal Parade - Children's Book #Review! #SophiesAnimalParade

From award-winning illustrator, Katia Wish, and author of Marathon Mouse, Amy Dixon, comes SOPHIE’S ANIMAL PARADE, an imaginative picture book that teaches kids about being creative. Reminiscent of Harold and the Purple Crayon, children are sure to laugh at the goofy scenarios Sophie and her animal friends find themselves in.

Mama calls it Sophie’s imagination, but Sophie calls it magic. Everything Sophie draws comes to life, and one day when Sophie feels lonely, she decides to draw a friend. But the polar bear cub isn’t very happy in Sophie’s room, where it is much too warm. So Sophie tries again. But the duck wants to swim in a pool full of water. And the giraffe is too tall for the tiny room! It isn’t long after the elephant shows up that things begin to get a little too wild and Sophie must demand that everyone go outside. In the backyard, with all her new friends, Sophie meets someone new—someone who happens to be an expert lion trainer. It looks like Sophie’s magic may have worked after all.

Featuring a charming crew of animals and two children who believe in magic, this sweet and funny picture book teaches children to combat loneliness with creativity, persistence, and a little imagination. Filled with the lovely watercolor illustrations of Katia Wish, Amy Dixon’s Sophie’s Animal Parade takes children on a journey toward friendship.

My Review:
I am really grateful that none of us has the power to draw things and have them come to life. Boy what a mess! This world would be a disaster, and then some! But in "Sophie's Animal Parade" the sweet, kind hearted Sophie's imagination and innocence is adorable and silly. Then Sophie meets a boy! And the real magic of human interaction begins! And so does drawing everything in twos for her new friend! This adorable book let's children's imagination run wild, but it also shows them that playing with real people can be fun too!

Dress Me - Children's Book #Review and #Giveaway! (U.S.) Ends 8/9 #DressMe

A young girl makes her way through a variety of career possibilities—dancer, doctor, superhero, plumber—in a variety of costumes. She can be graceful, creative, brave, caring, silly, and even scary. She can wear braids or glasses, a crown or a beret. No matter what she chooses, her puppy is twirling and painting right beside her, often with an accessory of his own. The story is simple and yet affirms the little girl’s right to choose who and what she wants to be. The message is one of exploration, choice, and self-expression. And ultimately another option for the little girl is to be “just me.”

From the author and illustrator of Paint Me! comes DRESS ME!, a new book that affirms how to dress #LikeAGirl. Featuring simple text with lovely, detailed illustrations, the inspiring story teaches children to explore and be open-mined. Dress Me! is sure to charm young readers and parents alike. This book is perfect for early readers and for reading out loud.

Sarah Frances Hardy is a children’s author, illustrator, and professional painter. A former lawyer, Hardy studied art at the Parsons School of Design and has had her paintings featured in galleries and commercial establishments. She is the author and illustrator of two books: "Puzzled by Pink" and "Paint Me!" Hardy lives with her husband and three daughters in Oxford, Mississippi.

My Review:
My two girls and I love this cute, easy to read, children's book. The illustrations are super cute and this book will teach my girls and my son that they can be anything they want to be when they grow up, but until then, it's really fun to pretend and play dress up! I can't wait until my three year old can read this book by herself and read the words!
